The National Trust Portsmouth
          and District Centre

		Founded 1982

A voluntary association of National Trust members and volunteers
  Who we are

The Portsmouth and District Centre was founded in 1982
and currently has over 200 members in the area. Our objectives
are to promote the National Trust locally, raise funds in its
support, and arrange a programme of events and activities to
enrich members’ understanding of its work. Among the National
Trust properties we support are Uppark, Hinton Ampner and
Mottisfont. Portsmouth and District Centre is independent of
the National Trust and governed by a constitution common to
all the charity’s Centres and Associations. Our affairs are
conducted by a committee of unpaid officers and members who
are elected at our Annual General Meeting held in March each year.

  What we do

Throughout the year, August excepted, members meet on the second
Thursday of each month at 7.30pm, in the Cathedral Discovery Centre,
Edinburgh Road, Portsmouth where there is free on-site off-road
parking after 1800Hrs for people attending our meetings, disabled
  facilities and no steps.
Meetings include talks on a range of heritage and other
subjects and members to socialise with like-minded people. In
summer we arrange day visits and short-break holidays
  to places of interest.
Social and fundraising events throughout the year include walks and
coffee mornings. Various of our members also provide volunteer support
for the National Trust, for example working as stewards at properties or
  helping with events.

  How to join us

The Portsmouth and District Centre welcomes new members. We are also
interested in recruiting people who would like to help with the
organisation of our programme on either a regular or an ad hoc
basis. To join the Portsmouth and District Centre you must first
be a member of the National Trust or an affiliated National
Trust, such as the National Trust for Scotland, or be a National Trust
volunteer. The annual membership subscription is currently £3 per
person. Members receive two newsletters a year and receive details of
our programme of events, such as talks, day visits and holidays, some of
which are at an additional cost.
To find out more please contact the Membership Secretary
whose details are given below. We look forward to meeting you!
